Conlangs

A conlang, short for "constructed language", is a language made deliberately, as a creative endeavour, as opposed to a "natural language" or "natlang", which is a language that evolved naturally in the real world through small alterations over time. Some conlang creators ("conlangers"), myself included, try to make their conlangs "naturalistic": such that they fall within the distribution of natural languages. Some conlangers don't bother with that and just do whatever they want. Some conlangs are made purely as a form of artistic expression ("artlangs"). Some conlangs are made in an attempt to improve communication in the real world (of which Esperanto is probably the most well-known example). The various languages spoken by the elves in the world of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (and other works) are conlangs.

I haven't yet managed to finish one, insofar as that's even possible. I plan to put some up here as soon as they're in a state where I feel comfortable with showing people them.

Currently, I'm working on the Method (placeholder name), a way of organising notes for a conlang that provides greater temporal resolution than the standard diachronic method. It is still a work in progress. Suggestions are appreciated, and if you have any, please send them to my tumblr askbox.
